Radwell Lake campsite
We run a simple and rural camp site which appeals to those who like camping in the old fashioned sense. That is to say, we do not offer electric hook ups or hot water. This might be considered by some to be a no no and by others to be a yes yes. What we offer is a pleasant grassy site, clean toilets, and you can choose your own pitch. We welcome tents, touring caravans and motor-caravans.
There is a choice of two places to go. The first is in an orchard. This is not always available since it is a Caravan and Camping Club rally site and we have rallies most summer weekends. Judging by the repeat bookings, we are a popular venue.
The other place is a field, bordered on one side by a plantation of poplar trees, and a stream. We very much enjoy welcoming family parties and seeing the children wading in the streams, running about and generally having a good time. We do not object to ball games, so long as it does not interfere with other campers. Barbecues, as long as off the ground are allowed, but not campfires as they scar the grass making it unpleasant for those following.
We welcome well behaved and controlled dogs on the site and we are surrounded by public foot paths across the fields to walk them.
What is there nearby? As the name implies, there is a considerable sized lake just up the road, and I can confidently say that the ducks and geese must be the best fed anywhere! For those who enjoy birdlife, there are many varieties. It does not take long for the ducks to discover that the campsite can be a fertile source of food, and they are often to be seen quacking around the campers. Muntjac deer are often to be seen.
We are fortunate to have a beautiful little Church, All Saints, in the village. It is always open for visits and contains several 17th Century memorials and early brasses of distinction. A booklet giving the history of the Church is available for £1.
From about May to September there are delicious homemade teas to be had in the Village Hall on Sunday afternoons.
There is a motorway service area within 1/2 mile with a Marks and Spencer, McDonalds, KFC and Starbucks.
